Akash Barua is pursuing his doctoral research in the Department of Political Science at the University of Delhi, specialising in Contemporary Political Theory.

After graduating from St. Stephen’s College with a degree in Economics and Political Science, he completed his Master’s in Political Science at Delhi University. His research focuses on analysing the emerging moral conundrums of the ongoing privatisation of the space sector. He is particularly concerned with its implications for developing countries. As the Global South has often been on the receiving end of climate change’s impact, Akash’s work examines the ethical justifications for such priorities. His research raises important questions on some of the fundamental assumptions regarding space policy formulations, and the structural conditions within which the sector operates.

He is currently pursuing his research under the guidance of Professor Ashok Acharya.
